This Vegan Avocado Smoothie Recipe is an amazing superfood—it’s full of fruits, plus it has ginger and turmeric to boost your immune system. This is the green smoothie for those who hate avocados but still want to enjoy all the health benefits of it.

I have always hated avocado. When I tell people this, I usually get one of two reactions. The first is another avocado hater who is so happy to find a kindred spirit as most people think we are so weird…just because we have an aversion to avocado. We are so happy and revel that we are not the only ones.

The second is when people look at me as if I have 4 heads with their mouths just gaping open in shock! I love when people tell me – oh it’s because it’s a new flavor. You will get accustomed to it.

America has discovered the avocado in recent years, but it is a food that has a long history in the part of the world where my family is from.

My parents are Caribbean and one of those parents was Haitian. For Haitian people, avocado salad is their basic salad. I grew up with avocado on my dinner table every single night and I NEVER ate it. My sisters even used to tease me and say I must be adopted since I don’t like avocado! That is how much of a staple it is in our cultural cuisine.

A Perfect Smoothie for Avocado Haters

My Mom buys a bag of avocados every single week and has 1/2 an avocado every morning with her breakfast. I stayed with her for some days after she came home when she was in the hospital last month. I decided to use the opportunity to add some avocado content to the site.

There was someone else to enjoy my avocado creations since I wasn’t going to be eating them. But then I thought what if I could come up with a delicious smoothie full of superfood goodness and heart healthy avocado for other avocado haters like me who want all the goodness that avocado provides, but doesn’t want to taste it?

My sister lives just two doors down from her, so I raided both apartments to get as much fruit as I could, hoping it would mask the flavor of the avocado. I added some ginger and turmeric for more superfood goodness and came up with this delicious smoothie that was so good, I barely wanted to share it with my Mom and sister.

This vegan avocado based smoothie is for the avocado hater in your life. With all the fruit, you can’t taste the avocado but get all the health benefits of the avocado.

Why Is The Fat In Avocados So Healthy?

Most of the healthy fat in avocados is monounsaturated, so it’s really heart-healthy. Avocados also have a plant version of cholesterol called beta-sitosterol, which helps lower cholesterol levels.

Is Replacing A Meal With A Smoothie Healthy?

Ideally, not every meal. For example, breakfast smoothies would be awesome if you could also incorporate high protein sources into the mix. The key is to check off nutrient needs that make up a complete meal.

In this green avocado smoothie, you’ll enjoy plenty of fiber, protein, and fat even just from the avocado itself. With all the other fruit ingredients plus the ginger and turmeric, you can have an immune system and energy booster to power up your morning!

Will Green Smoothies Give Me Energy?

Generally, green smoothies give you loads of B vitamins, which can help your body release energy from what you eat.

How Do You Pick A Good Avocado?

If you’re using avocados within 1 to 2 days, pick those with a dark green and black speckled color. You should also notice a slightly bumpy texture on the skin.

Also, if you put some pressure on the avocado, it should still feel firm, so you’d know it can last up to 2 days more.

That’ll be helpful if you’re super busy in the morning. If you make your avocado smoothie in advance, try to stir it a little first before serving, then enjoy it all the way.

Can We Keep The Avocado Smoothie in the Fridge?

Yes! You can always make a double batch of your avocado green smoothie and refrigerate some for later. The most recommended way is to keep the fruit smoothie in a glass container that has an airtight lid.

You can keep it in the fridge for 1-2 days.

Can I Put My Smoothie in the Freezer?

Yes, even up to 3 months. Make sure to use airtight, freezer-safe containers.

How Do You Thaw Frozen Smoothies?

  • If you’re planning to have a superfood breakfast smoothie in the morning, take out your frozen smoothie and put it in the fridge.

  1. Avocados, mango and apple smoothie sounds great . Like you, I never like avocados until recently when my son mashed it to put on his toast and asked me to taste it . Now I love it in my salads. It is certainly a super fruit.

  2. We had an avocado tree in our garden where I was growing up. At that time, it was not such a poplar fruit but my grandfather would add salt and lemon and would tell us to eat it up. I love avocado and adding mango and kiwi to the smoothie makes it so wholesome and filling. A good way for you to enjoy an avocado even thought you don’t like it.

  3. This looks so good! I have always been skeptical of avocado in a smoothie. I think mostly because of the texture, but yours looks like a perfect texture, so I really want to give it a try!

  4. I really like recipes that allow to enjoy the benefits of certain products without actually including those ingredients into the meal! This works great for my guests just as much as for me! Everyone has their own preferences, so the more recipes like this are in my collection the easier it is for me to prep. Fantastic smoothie!
