It’s the Year of the Pig – How do you plan to celebrate?

Chinese New

Chinese New Year begins today, but the festivities here in NYC will be going on for a few weeks. Parades, Lantern Festivals, Cultural Festivals and so much more.  The festivities started this past weekend and continue on until March.

Whether you are a local or a tourist visiting at this time, there is a lot of Chinese culture to experience in NYC at this time of year!

February 5th – Fireworks Ceremony and Cultural Festivity

What time? – 11am

Where? – Sara D. Roosevelt Park at Christie Street and Forsythe Street, NYC


February 5th – Lunar New Year in Prospect Park

What time? 12pm

Where? – Prospect Park Audubon Center – Lincoln Rd. entrance


February 6th – Lunar New Year Concert & Gala

What time? – 7:30 pm

Where? – New York Philharmonic


February 9th – Breakfast Reception

What time? – 9:30am

Where? – Greater Flushing Chamber of Commerce, 135-32 38th Avenue, Flushing


February 9th – Lunar Festival Parade

What time? – 11am

Where? – Union Street and 37th Avenue, Flushing


February 9th – Chinese New Year Celebration – Nai Ni Chen Dance Company

What time? – 1pm

Where? – Brooklyn Central Library, 10 Grand Army Plaza


February 10th – Brooklyn Lunar New Year Parade & Festival

What time? – 10:30am

Where? – 8th Avenue & 50th Street, Sunset Park


February 17th – Lunar Festival Parade

What time? – 1pm

Where? – Mott Street and Canal to Chatham Square to East Broadway finishing at Eldridge and Forsythe Street next to Sara D. Roosevelt Park


February 17th – Chinese New Year Temple Bazaar

What time? – 11am and 2pm

Where? – Flushing Town Hall – 137-35 Northern Blvd., Flushing


February 22nd – Lunar New Year 2019

What time? – 4:30pm

Where? – Sunset Park Library – 4201 4th Avenue, Sunset Park, Brooklyn


March 24th – Lantern Cultural Festival

What time? – Various

Where? – 5th Avenue and 36th Street & 8th Avenue and 66th Street, Sunset Park, Brooklyn
