Strawberry Milkshake, Moroccan MilkshakeAmerican milkshakes are very thick and creamy due to the inclusion of both ice cream and whole milk or cream. Moroccan milkshakes are much lighter and refreshing, especially on a hot summer day. Although we are still far from summer, the temperatures this week have been nearing 60 F and when you are still in cold weather mode when the temps have been mostly in the 30’s, most of us are overdressed. Therefore, this milkshake was a refreshing reprieve after coming home all hot and sweaty from wearing a thick sweater.

Milkshakes are quite common in Morocco, often flavored with nuts or fruits. Almond and apple are two of the most common flavors, but strawberry ones are often available also. Their milkshakes are always flavored with with either rose water or orange blossom water. Even with off season fruit, I did not find sugar or honey necessary, but feel free to sweeten as desired.
