Ginger Soy Chicken Wings with Indonesian Spice Mix

Indonesian Ginger Soy Chicken Wings are oven baked chicken that is so full of flavor with a freshly made spice blend. Perfect addition to any party!

Ingredients

Spice Mix Ingredients

Chicken Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. chicken wings
  • 1 tablespoon Indonesian Spice Blend
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • salt and pepper to taste

Sauce Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 2 tablespoons grated ginger
  • ½ cup Kecap Manis sweet soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon candlenut butter can substitute peanut butter
  • chopped cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  • To make the spice blend, combine all ingredients and toss well. You will need 1 tablespoon for the chicken. Save the rest for use with any type of meat or vegetable dishes.
  • Sprinkle chicken with 1 tablespoon of the spice blend, salt and pepper. Add oil and toss well.
  • Marinate for at least 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 400 F. Spray a cookie sheet with non stick spray.
  • Roast for 20 minutes.
  • Flip wings and cook for another 20 minutes.
  • To make the sauce,
  • In a saucepan, heat oil.
  • Add ginger and saute until softened.
  • Add Kecap Manis, candlenut butter and ¼ cup water.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • To serve, pour some of the sauce over chicken and serve extra sauce on the side.
  • Garnish with the cilantro.

Notes

To make the candlenut butter, place about 7-8 candlenuts in a spice grinder or mini food processor until you have a peanut butter consistency.
Any specialty products can be found at your local Asian market.
If you like your chicken a little darker, you can put chicken in the broiler for a few minutes after baking.
