I always say: A recipe should be a guide - not a Bible. I love the way you were able to substitute what you had on hand and come up with something just as delicious!

I changed a few things to use what I had on hand. First I halved the recipe. There are only 2 of us and we still have a lot left over. I didn't have white rice, so I substituted a purple, red, brown rice mix. I cooked it with the wild rice since they had similar cooking times, and I used the appropriate amount of chicken broth (we aren't vegan). I used half a large bag of frozen broccoli that I had partially thawed. Once the rice mixture was almost done, I sauteed the vegetables. When they were tender, I added them to the rice mixture. I didn't have pomegranate seeds, so I used dried cranberries. It was very good, and I will definitely make again. Thank you for the recipe.
